Using the Physical Capacity Profile, the Ozzie Smith Centers of Springfield test employees who have been released by their physician to return to work. Employees complete an objective test to see if they meet the physical demands of their job. A heart rate monitor is used to ensure the fidelity of the test.
The Ozzie Smith Centers of Springfield recommend Fit for Duty tests for workers who have become injured outside of work (i.e. hurt shoulder playing recreation softball or following knee replacement surgery) and those who have been injured at work and are ready to return to the job. This provides the best protection for an employer and guards the company from a workers’ compensation claim if the employee is not healthy enough to perform the same job.
